Meet Kim
The Heart of A-1 Party
A-1 Party isn’t just a business, it’s personal. Kim is the heart and soul of what we do, and her story is deeply connected to Santa Clarita.
Kim was born and raised in Northridge before moving to the Santa Clarita Valley in 1978. This is where she built her life, got married, raised her 2 sons, and now gets to watch her grandkids grow up here too. If you’re from the SCV, you know that kind of history means something. Santa Clarita isn’t just where we work, it’s home.
Kim started her career in the banking industry at 18 and stayed there until 28, when she took a leap of faith and started her own business: A-1 Stop Party Shop. That entrepreneurial spirit has shaped everything we do today, from the way we treat customers to the pride we take in every balloon arrangement that leaves our hands.

Over the years, Kim has been known not only for her balloon talent, but also for her community leadership and nonprofit involvement. She was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce and became its President in 1998, making history as the first small businesswoman President. She eventually joined VIA as well and served on the W.S. Hart Pony Baseball/Softball Auxiliary Board for 8 years.
After the Northridge earthquake in 1994, Kim made a major change by giving up the store and moving the business home. In 2000, she was asked to run the Chamber of Commerce while they searched for a new CEO, and she successfully ran it until 2002.
Even today, giving back is still a major part of who we are. Kim has always been involved in nonprofit work and has served on the Board of Directors for Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley since its start 15 years ago.
